June 10-11th:
Kara and Pippin participated in the Darren Chiacchia clinic at Ledyard Farm. Unfortunately MORE rain led to the group staying in the stadium ring for the duration of the clinic but we learned lots of challenging exercises! Pippin is getting very good at jumping in puddles!

June 3-4: GMHA recognized horse trials.
Well, unfortunately because of even more rain, they cancelled the cross-country which was a major bummer.

  • Kara and Pippin competed in novice and had another sloppy dressage ring (which was even worse than King Oak) so dressage didn’t go very well but he jumped a clean round in stadium to finish 12th out of 25.
  • Kara also rode Manta Ray in beginner novice. Manta was awesome in his sloppy dressage ring and with a clean round in stadium finished on their score of a 37.5 and in 8th place!

May 21st: Hilltop Equestrian Center 2-phase

  • Hannah and Orion did their first dressage tests of the year and won both the walk-trot B test and the Training Level 1 tests! Great job!
  • Kara and Star (owned by Cheryl Mahoney) were first and second in their two walk-trot tests.
  • Kara also rode Manta Ray in the Beginner Novice 2-phase division. Manta had a nice test and jumped well despite 1 refusal at the in-and-out.

May 14th: King Oak recognized horse trials.
Pippin competed in his first novice in the pouring rain (this was the weekend of the flood of the century!). Despite having terrible conditions for dressage, Pippin jumped really well to finish in 6th place out of 25 starters!

    March 2006:
Kara and Pippin took a fantastic jumping clinic with Bruce Mandeville (website: http://www.brucemandeville.com)

    May 7th
    : Green Acres 2-phase

  • Kara and Pippin competed in the Novice Plus division which included some cross-country fences such as the banks, water and a ditch. Pippin was fantastic in dressage and won with a 30.5%. We had had a wonderful dressage lesson with Bruce Mandeville the day before!

  • Pete and Manta also competed in the Beginner Novice division.

April 29th-30th: UNH recognized horse trials.
Kara and Pippin went BN for the first time out cross-country. Pippin did very well and finished in 5th place out of a group of 26.

April 19-20th:
Kara and Pippin took part in a clinic with Jimmy Wofford (www.jimwofford.com) at UNH. He was by far the best clinician I have ever ridden with. He thought Pippin has a lot of potential which is pretty encouraging coming from someone who coaches the Olympic riders!

April 9th: Green Acres 2-phase.
Kara and Pippin started out at Novice level and won with a score of 33%

April 2006:
The season has begun!

* Special thanks to Hannah for being such a big help all day long and to Pete for driving!
