Assistant Instructor Virginia "Ginny" Merrill

Picture
After her first riding lesson, four-year-old Ginny fell in love with the sport. She learned to event, competing in a few recognized seasons before having a bad fall at Millbrook Horse Trials in 2010. Shortly after, Ginny found Sea Star Stable and Kara. Through Kara’s tutelage, Ginny regained her confidence and spent a lot of time finessing her position. Over the years, she worked around the barn helping with summer camp and eventually teaching lessons.
When she headed off to college, Ginny put her own riding goals on the back burner, knowing she’d pick them up again one day. Throughout school, she continued teaching lessons, passing down some of the words of wisdom she learned over the years, and growing to love instruction. With her own experiences in mind, she strives to create confidence and correctness in the saddle, knowing the importance of a solid foundation.
In December of 2018, Ginny finally made the leap and picked up her first horse! Mae was sitting for most of the year, but Ginny is excited to get her back into shape and continue developing their partnership with the goal to get them both back out eventing again!
