Assistant Instructor Kat Nichols
Kat came to SSS in 2013 to get back in the saddle again after a 32-year hiatus. Although she can’t believe she waited so long, she is so thankful to have discovered such a special barn to continue her love affair with horses. She grew up on Long Island and started riding at an early age.
She enjoyed hunter jumpers, but soon discovered the fun of dressage and eventing! She managed feeding and did stall duty, taught beginner riders, and managed summer pony camps at Stony Hill Stable in Amagansett, NY. Kat has many years’ experience as an elementary school teacher.
She is often seen in the gardens at Sea Star... but when Kara gave her the opportunity to combine her passion for teaching and love of horses, she grabbed it. She now enjoys teaching SSS beginners, planning summer pony camps, and assisting with SSS riding academy.
